Meet Admiral Buck

Vice Adm. Sean Buck, the 63rd Superintendent of the US Naval Academy, was scheduled for a West Coast Tour this July. We are sorry to have missed this special opportunity to have met Admiral Buck in person. But our Chapter will have an opportunity to meet the Superintendent in a Virtual town Hall with the alumni in the Western Region on Thursday, 30 July at 11:45 am to 13:00.

Details about this virtual town hall with instructions of how to join this virtual town hall session with the chapter leaders will be emailed to all SF Bay Area Alumni (including those who have not yet had an opportunity to join the chapter) for whom the Alumni Association has a valid email address, provided you have not opted out of communications from the chapter.

More of these town halls with USNA leadership are coming in the future. The next planned event is scheduled for Thursday, 6 August, 2020. Make sure to be on the invitation list by joining the chapter at least three days before the event to get the email invitation.

Your San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Association is still here and we have a few announcements!

I would like to give a tremendous Bravo Zulu to Liam Lane ’02 for his service to the Chapter over the past few years. Thank you for your leadership as President and we wish you all the best in your adventures with your family in the future. We will give you a proper farewell when we can gather again!

It is my honor to accept the position as your new chapter President! For those of you that I have not met yet, I look forward to getting to know you.

If we have not met I am Lauren Cosgrave ’04. I served for 11 years as a SWO aboard USS RUSSELL, USS GETTYSBURG and USS CHOSIN. After leaving the Navy in 2015 my husband Sean and I moved from Hawaii to the Bay Area which is Sean’s hometownarea. We live in Marin with our 2 daughters Nora (4) and Claire (2). After a few years working in tech at Facebook and Dropbox, I am currently a Certified High Performance Coach and love my new found career of service. I am very excited to be a part of this organization and to help the group continue to grow as a resource for USNA Alumni. 

In the coming months, expect more communication, a renewed virtual events calendar, and a call for board member volunteers!
